Join us in honoring black history.

February 24, 2019 – 10:30 am Service

Spirit of Peace, Unity by the Shore’s beloved band, will be playing historical and commemorative pieces. Intertwined between each performance will be recitations of readings that will speak to the significance and symbolism of each song and time for prayerful reflection.

After the service, we will come together in fellowship as we indulge in cultural soul food. We invite you to join us and bring a cultural dish to share.

If you would like to decorate the sanctuary and the fellowship area for this service, please contact Gwen Lewis.

Feb 3, 2019 – VHSK “Souper” Bowl Sunday

Vincent’s Healing Soup Kitchen is a ministry of Unity by the Shore.

On Sunday, February 3, 2019 we will be hosting our 1st Annual “Souper Bowl” Sunday from noon – 1 pm

This is an invitation to come and enjoy a hot bowl of nourishing, organic, homemade soup and have some friendly conversation.

There will be many soup options available including a dairy free, gluten free, vegetarian and more.    

All are welcome.  It’s Free.  Bring your smile and your appetite.

Jazz & Holiday sounds from Manhattan’s own
The Sounds of Joy Jazz Quintet
Led by Dr. Peter Silver & Featuring Vocalist Colette Thompson

The first part of the concert will consist of jazz standards and a second part will contain seasonal holiday music.

Tickets: $20

Based in Manhattan, The Sounds of Joy Jazz Quintet has been performing for over twenty years. All members also play in other groups ranging all the way from a blues band to a seventeen-piece big band. Led by trumpeter Dr. Peter Silver, the Red Bank Holistic Dentist, Sounds of Joy includes drummer Jose Reyes, electric bassist John Herman, pianist Tommy Rosenstein, and saxophonist Travis Peace. Colette Thompson has directed or performed in over eleven vocal ensembles, has performed or recorded with Leonard Bernstein, Peter, Paul & Mary, and James Levine and is a
billboard-ranked singer/songwriter.

Come and dig into the teachings of Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, co-founders of Unity, on healing and wholeness, as well as, the works of past and present day spiritual teachers. During our time together, we will explore universal principles that support the understanding and expression of personal and collective healing, health and wholeness in mind, body, and spirit. Below, please find a list of some of the topics that will be explored:

  • The Source of Healing
  • Death and Healing
  • The Power of Thought
  • The Power of the Spoken Word
  • Affirmative prayer and Your Life as Prayer
  • Perceived Obstacles to Healing
  • Creating your Future Self

Fee: Love Offering (a call to practice the law of circulation by being a generous giver)

Note: Those seeking to become members of Unity by the Shore can count attendance and participation in 5 out of the 7 classes of this series as meeting the educational requirement for membership.
