Let Us Welcome and Celebrate Our New Youth Director, Gwen Lewis

Gwen has been a member of Unity by the Shore for 8 years. During this time Gwen as been a vital part of our community.  She served on our board of trustees for 6 years, facilitated countless Fundraisers, was part of our music ministry, and currently is a platform assistant and a Prayer Chaplain.  Gwen has a servant’s heart and not only participates in sacred service within our community, but has been an active leader in the New Jersey chapter of the Women’s Club.  

In addition, Gwen has dedicated her life to Inspiring, teaching, and supporting youth.  Here are some of the many ways Gwen has positively influenced and inspired youth:

• She has fostered 46 loving youths, who were wards of the state and hard to place.
• Worked for 27 ½ years at the Maximum Security Youth Development Center in Pennsylvania.
• Mentored young ladies through the Girl’s Career Institute, sponsored by the Women’s Club which is held yearly at Rutgers College.
• Earned her Associate Degree in Recreational & Physical Education from Penn State University.
