The Wise Queen of Selfless Devotion – Sunday Talk

August 28, 2019 by admin

Talk originally given on August 18, 2019

Our Heroes and Heroines of Hollywood and the Bible continues with Queen Esther of the Hebrew Scriptures, the Old Testament. The parable of Queen Esther tells the story of overcoming painful and challenging life circumstances by fasting from self-limiting beliefs, thoughts, feelings, and actions and by courageously living our Divine Purpose.

AFFIRMATIVE PRAYER: Today, I fast from a consciousness of  ignorance, self-absorption, and all that erroneously keeps me insulated from others.  Illumined by Divine Wisdom, I take selfless and courageous action to be an ambassador of compassionate support to those who have been falsely labeled as less than.

Your love offering is greatly appreciated.

Preparing Our Gardens for the Next Season

August 20, 2019 by admin

by: Ingrid Justick

Vol. 25, No. 4

This is an excellent time to step back and take a look at how your organic garden did grow this season. Do your plants look as healthy as you expected them to be? Take photographs of your plants each year. This winter, when you are planning next year’s garden, reach for the photos and you will be quite surprised on how much you accomplished.

Most trees, lawns and spring-blooming shrubs grow better if you plant them in the fall in well-prepared organic soil. Top growth is less active, ground water more plentiful and tiny roots become strong, storing energy for the spring show of flowers and foliage.

Now is an excellent time to plant fall-flowering perennials: graceful Japanese anemones, sweet autumn clematis, along with other cool weather plants such as asters, kale and pansies. Fragrant witch hazel will bloom even when snow is on the ground. Do not forget to plant your bulbs into the ground. They will announce spring’s arrival.

Autumn is the perfect time to prepare your organic spring vegetable garden. Clean your vegetable beds and turn the soil adding plenty of compost. Scatter spinach seeds that will mature and flourish in cool weather. These hardy greens grow throughout the fall, lie dormant under the snow and then start growing again in spring. Plant some Egyptian onions; they are perennial and you can harvest the green tips all winter.

Herbs are among fall’s most rewarding plants. Cut them back and freeze or dry the clippings for winter enjoyment. Place organic leaf mulch around your perennial herbs, to protect from frost damage.

Before moving your potted plants indoors, wash them well with an all-purpose natural spray that will eliminate most pests: mix two teaspoons of liquid dishwashing detergent with one cup of vegetable oil. Shake vigorously to emulsify then add one quart of water. Be certain to spray the undersides of leaves, too. Mealybugs and scales grow a tough coat of arms, so use a cotton swab and dab each bug mass with rubbing alcohol. Then once a month scrub leaves gently with soapy water to remove dust particles from the breathing holes.

It is time to relax from our summer labors while we are anxiously awaiting the end of winter and the first sign of spring to start our organic gardens —  all over again.

You must heal any wounds you give the Earth
and you must feed her to replace what you take from her.
Only if you repay your debts will she continue to provide.

New Member Class FALL 2019 – The 5 Principles: A Guide to Practical Spirituality

August 16, 2019 by admin

The Five Principles book study will provide you with practical spiritual tools for daily living and suggests answers to the great questions of existence that individuals have been asking since the dawn of conscious awareness.

• Who and what is God?
• Who or what am I?
• What is my purpose?
• Why do “bad” things happen to “good” people?
• How can I live a more fulfilling life?

The five principles constitute the core teachings of the Unity spiritual movement founded in 1889 by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore. These same principles reflect the laws of the universe that apply to everyone, all the time. “Work these principles, test them and apply them to your life, and watch what happens

Spiritual Book Study: “Whatever Arises Love That” by Matt Kahn

August 15, 2019 by admin

Thursday Book Study: 1 – 3 p.m.
September 19, 2019 – December 19, 2019

Unity by the Shore
3508 Asbury Ave., Neptune, NJ 07753

NO CLASS: December 5th and December 12th

We live in a world of impermanence, therefore change is evitable. Each season gives way to another, the economy rises and falls, babies arrive into this world every day, and throughout our lives people we have been in relationship with leave us either through death or by the parting of ways. Many of us experience turmoil, conflict, and suffering as we are confronted with change or the behavior of people and circumstances of events that are not to our liking.

In the book, Everything is Here to Help Us, Matthew Khan professes that instead of resisting change and challenging experiences to embrace them. Welcome them as opportunities to awaken, heal, and live a life of meaning and purpose and in turn to advance the awakening and transformation of others.

Participants of the book study will explore the following concepts and tools.

  • Discovering the first step in finding inner peace
  • Reclaiming the passion, joy, and inspiration of your true innocent nature
  • Exploring the essential role of surrender throughout the spiritual journey
  • Unraveling the patterns of ego with compassion and ease
  • Mastering the vital skill of conscious communication to uplift every relationship and encounter
  • Reuniting the mind and heart as a doorway into greater spiritual evolution
