About the Artists:

JD Martin is an ASCAP award-winning songwriter of 5 Number One and 10 Top

Ten country and pop hit singles.  His songs have been recorded by such artists as Reba McEntire, B.J. Thomas, Peter Cetera, and Kathy Mattea.

Jan Garrett is a jazz singer, master music coach, wilderness vision quester, and (yes) Certified Laughing Instructor who has toured with Steve Martin, John Denver, and the Dirt Band, and has appeared on the Tonight Show.

Both Jan & JD have won numerous Positive Music Awards and two Indie International Songwriters Awards in recent years.

UNITY WORLD DAY OF PRAYER

Living Well: Nurturing Mind, Body, & Spirit

On Thursday, September 12, 2013, Unity by the Shore is celebrating Unity World Day of Prayer with the rest of the Unity movement worldwide.

Unity by The Shore will be open during the day for meditation and prayer.   Service will be held at 7  pm in the Sanctuary on Thursday, September 12, 2013.  The prayer box will be there for you to write your prayer requests which will then be sent to Silent Unity for another 30 days of prayer.  Keep in mind that you can also submit your prayer requests online.

Some of the prayer events being held at Unity Village will be broadcast live online for those who would like to watch and listen on your computer, beginning Wednesday, September 11, at 8 p.m. EST.   You can access the broadcast by clicking the following link:  www.worlddayofprayer.org

• Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013 – 8 p.m. – Opening service in the Activities Center with Dr. Larry Dossey.

• Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013 – 12 p.m. noon – Silent Unity prayer service in the Activities Center, facilitated by Ministry and Religious Studies students from Unity Institute and Seminary.
• Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013  – 8 p.m. – Evening service in the Activities Center with Dr. Bowen White.

Monmouth County Friends of Clearwater’s (MCFC) Traveling Environmental Festival is coming to Unity by the Shore!

Fundraiser concert for New Jersey Friends of Clearwater  to follow at approximately  3:00/3:30 pm.
The exhibit is free and we are asking for $5 fundraising concert fee.

This is an exciting, hands-on interdisciplinary educational program designed to demonstrate the inter-dependency of all plants and animals.  The MCFC staff will guide students on a fascinating exploration of our environment, starting at the base of the food web with the plankton and culminating with humans. Through hands-on interconnected stations –including plankton study, live exhibits aquarium, water chemistry, watershed model, creative dramatics, and music, the young mind will be brought to a deeper understanding of our need for clean, clear water.  The dependence of one species on another, the effect of human industry on our environment, and the role each of us plays in shaping the present and future through choices we make are the themes of our program.

This Traveling Environmental Festival is a great educational tool for children of all ages.  While the target audience are grades 2 through 6, the curriculum has been tailored to accommodate older and younger audiences.
