Maundy Thursday Service
Please join us at 7:00 PM on Thursday April 2.
At the Last Supper, Jesus demonstrated his greatest act of servant leadership. He and his 12 disciples had just finished eating when Jesus, with only a towel wrapped around his waist, knelt down at the feet of each of them and washed their feet, drying them with the towel. This overwhelming gesture made a lasting impression on the disciples, not only because it expressed pure love, but by washing their feet, Jesus laid the foundation for true servant leadership; one that has become the model for Christians.
On Thursday April 2 we will join together in remembering the events of the Last Supper and the commandment that Jesus gave to his disciples that night, “Love one another as I have loved you.” We are called to the true meaning of Jesus’ ministry by being a servant to each other. In a lovely service we will symbolically wash our hands and then partake of the bread and “wine” and receive a message to use for meditation as we prepare ourselves for Easter.
