 Message from the President

When I came to Unity by the Shore in October 2007 becoming president of the Board of Trustees was the farthest thing from my mind.  I wanted to renew my faith and I was searching for a spiritual home.

After that first Sunday I kept coming back; I was so impressed with the music program, and Reverend Joanne's lessons always seemed directed at me. By February 2008 I became a member.  I knew I had found the home I was looking for, and for the first time in a long time I felt like I belonged.  To find such an amazing group of loving like-minded spirits is a true blessing. When James McKenzie was looking for someone to lead the Building and Grounds team back in 2008 I jumped at the opportunity -

I wanted to give back to the community who gave me so much.  Then Laura started the Healing Spirit Singers and I knew I had to be a part of the music program.  After that Angela approached me to serve on the Core Values team.  And in 2009 James asked me to be on the Board.  It was such an honor; I remember being nervous at first but James believed in me and with his encouragement I knew everything would be alright.  Robert Sumski made a statement long ago that resonates with me to this day:  I am doing what is mine to do.

I look forward to this next opportunity to serve you as Board President.  James McKenzie is a tough act to follow, though.  He has served on the Board for 4 years, 3 of those years as President. He has served with wisdom, grace, and above all, love.  I have learned a lot from him, and I consider him one of my favorite people.  It was an honor to serve alongside him, and he will be missed by myself and the rest of the Board.

My intention is to continue to serve with love and through spirit.  I have an amazing group of sacred servants in the Board of Trustees who all support the vision and mission of this church.  We are united in love and joy to lead Unity by the Shore to be the best we can be.  I am confident that this transition will take place with ease and grace and that we will continue to do what is ours to do.

 In love and gratitude,
Sandi
